Chelsea have parted company with manager Jose Mourinho after their poor start to the Premier League season. The Blues are just one point above the relegation zone after a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Monday night, continuing a surprise collapse just months after they finished as Champions in May.
It was originally thought that Juande Ramos could be in line to replace the Portuguese coach, with reports claiming the Spaniard’s agent has been in London for talks with the club. However, Chelsea’s former interim boss Guus Hiddink since has emerged as the most likely replacement, with the likes of Diego Simeone and Pep Guardiola in the frame to replace Mourinho on a permanent basis.
Hiddink’s appointment would almost certainly be a temporary one, with the lack of big-name replacements available thought to be one of the reasons Mourinho lasted as long as he has.
