Arsenal have been dealt another injury blow as Mikel Arteta was ruled out of this weekend’s clash against his old club Everton. The experienced Spaniard has not been a regular in the Gunners’ first-team this season, but could have been a valuable backup option due to the absence of Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.
And Arsene Wenger has now confirmed that Arteta is set to join them on the treatment table, leaving him short of options in midfield. The 33-year-old has picked up an ankle problem in training, though it remains to be seen if this will prove to be a long-term injury blow.
