Photos from Fine Coat Paint factory in Lagos as 10 persons injured

Fire yesterday gutted Fine Coat Paint located at Casso along Abeokuta expressway in Lagos, leaving no fewer than ten persons injured. It was gathered that the fire may have started as a result of the explosion from the chemical mixture which got mixed up with other inflammable substance in the paint making factory. The fire destroyed property worth millions of naira.

Report says the fire incident resulted into heavy gridlock in the area as those around the area were thrown into confusion.

It took the intervention of men of the fire service, officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Rapid Respond Squad, RSS, workers in the factory and passer-by to put out the inferno. The rescue team immediately took the injured persons to a General Hospital in the area.

General Manager of LASEMA, Dr Femi Oke Osanyintolu, while confirming the incident disclosed that he could not ascertain the cause of the inferno but they were trying to see that the injured were properly attended to.

Osanyintolu affirmed: “We cannot tell you precisely the cause of the fire, our investigation is still ongoing but from the primary survey, we were informed that the fire was due to the chemical explosion. So far, all the emergency responders are on the ground. So far, we have taken five casualties to Orile General Hospital. All the stakeholders that are relevant in managing emergency are still combating it.”
